Uni | Starting A New Chapter

I cannot believe I have just completed my first week at uni. It’s been both overwhelming and nerve racking, but I have really enjoyed every moment of it.

I am now officially an undergraduate at NTU studying Fashion communication and promotion. Nottingham Trent describe fashion communication and promotion as ‘visual communication of brand, product and service in the global fashion industry; how the message and image of the fashion brand or product is best communicated to the consumer’. And so I have decided to bring you all on the journey with me, from first year to graduation, with some really exciting posts. This will be anything from work I do in my seminars, to books I read, documentaries I watch or just inspiring ideas and concepts from my lectures that I want to explore in more depth.

I originally started my blog to share with you guys all the things I’m passionate about, and so it wouldn’t be right to leave FCP out of it.

From the lectures and seminars I’ve had so far I have been really inspired by my tutors, and I cannot wait to get started on the hard work that lies ahead. I’m really excited to broaden my knowledge and understanding of fashion, as well as build on my skills as a communicator within the industry and start networking. And of course make the most of student life and make some incredible memories.

From next week I will be writing two extra posts a week related to all things around my life at university, so you all have that to look forward to.

I hope you all have a great week

Netflix & Chill |100 Streets

And it’s another movie! Yes you guys are loving films over series atm. This week’s ‘Netflix and Chill’ post is for ‘100 streets’ starring the one and only Idris Elba.

100 streets tells the story of 3 very different lives all within the city of London. From drug dealing to infidelity and adoption to death, the dramatic occurrences just keep coming. With intersecting characters and crosses over story lines, this film is not one for two second phone checks.

Overall we rate this film a 7 out of 10.

We found this on Netflix, and I believe it is available on there still.

This was just a short review as we didn’t want to give too much away. If you have seen it already, comment below and let us know what you thought.

Date Night |Celebrating at STK

For our one year anniversary dinner my boyfriend took us to STK London, it’s been on my little date night list for a while, and as it was in our hotel it made sense to go there. We booked our table through Open table, I prefer using Open table as it saves the hassle of calling restaurants and you can just quickly do it online.

From the moment we walked through the door  I was blown away by the place. The music really set the mood for a great evening, and I have heard it’s even better on a Friday night. The decor and layout is beautiful and creates the perfect setting for a date night, whether it be with your girls or your other half.

For drinks we went for cocktails first, we tried the Lemon Stiletto and the classic Mojito. Both were made to perfection and were all gone by the end of the starters. My boyfriend then decided on a Corona to have with his main and I enjoyed a second mojito.

Then for starters we decided to share the scallops from the specials menu, it was the perfect amount for us two to share without filling ourselves up before our main. The scallops were the best I have had, they were on a bed of rice noodles that were full of flavour and that were cooked in the most delicious sauce. I honestly could have ordered another to have all to myself, it was that good.

Lastly for mains we shared the meal for two for £90, this included a juicy 950gr Scottish Rib-eye for two, Lil’ Brgs,Wagyu beef and rice, beef short rib, creamed spinach, American style creamed corn, a house salad, coleslaw, corn bread, Hendrick’s Gin cucumber and tomatoe salad and a parmesan truffle chips. We did originally book STK to have a steak dinner, but when we saw all this on the menu for £90 we couldn’t resist. We tried everything but didn’t manage to finish it all, and was defeated. We thoroughly enjoyed the Scottish Rib-eye steak, the Lil’ Brgs, the beef short rib, parmesan truffle chips and the American style creamed corn. However the creamed spinach, corn bread and Hendrick’s Gin cucumber and tomatoe salad we didn’t enjoy that much and wasn’t to our acquired taste at all. The shared meal filled us up so much that we didn’t even want to look at the desserts menu, but instead we did have some more cocktails.

I would highly recommend STK to everyone, and we are already planning to go back with my family.

Sexy Fish is next on my date night list, what’s next on yours?

Netflix & Chill |All I See Is You

You guys voted for a film this week, and here it is. This weeks film for our Netflix & Chill post is ‘All I see is you’ starring Blake Lively who plays Gina. I am currently loving Blake Lively after seeing her in ‘a simple favour’ last week.

Gina’s relationship with her husband slowly takes the turn for the worst when she regains her sight after life changing eye surgery. After being haunted for years by the accident that made her blind, now that she can see again Gina’s newfound independence leaves her husband feeling threatened.

We rate this a 7 out of 10. We love how well they tackled the way in which viewers could experience Gina’s blindness. The performance of Blake lively once again is very strong  and compelling.

This film is still up on Netflix, so if you have it you can watch it on there.

Now we’re writing about this film, I really want to watch it again tonight. What are you guys going to be watching tonight? Comment below

Food | Breakfast on Park Lane

As we were in London for our one year anniversary, we went to elan cafe for a cute breakfast date. I’ve wanted to go for so long and as we wasn’t far from it we thought why not. Since posting photos of it on my Instagram, I have had so many DM’s with so many questions and so I thought as I haven’t done a blog post in so long I would answer them all in this one post.

So we went to the cafe on Park Lane, there’s another cafe in Knightsbridge and another two opening soon – one in Oxford Circus and one in Selfridges on the 4th floor. When we arrived it was really packed and so we put our names on the waiting list and returned once there was a table ready for us. The cafe in Park Lane is only small, and so it is hard to get a table straight away as it is so popular.

My boyfriend and I love a good breakfast, and so we were spoilt for choice when we looked at the menu. After a lot of hard decision making, we decided on the Eggs on English muffin with smoked salmon, avocado and hollandaise sauce and the open flat bread sandwich with poached eggs, smoked salmon and avocado with two freshly squeezed juices. The juices were so refreshing and full of flavour, and the breakfasts were so delicious and filling.

I got a lot of the same messages asking if it was worth it as they have only seen pictures on Instagram. I would say it is definitely worth it, it’s not just a beautiful cafe with amazing decor but the food is unreal and so worth every penny.

The staff were also so lovely and friendly, and really went above and beyond to make your experience at Elan Cafe a great one. We will definitely be returning when we are next in London, but for now we’re on the look out for our next location for our next breakfast date.

Love always
