Beauty | Skincare Routine

At the beginning of the year, when thinking of all the things I wanted to achieve for 2018, one of my goals was to put together a skin routine and stick to it.

I have a combination skin type, which means my T-zone area is quite oily in comparison to the other areas of my face, which are normal to dry. My skin is also affected massively by my diet, hormones and certain ingredients within products and so I am prone to the occasional spot.

One evening last November, I was watching TV in my bed and my face began to itch. It was very red, quite hot and super inflamed. The next day I woke up and my whole face was one big rash, I had endless amounts of little acne spots and I was so unhappy. Over the following weeks my skin got worse, I lost a lot of confidence and couldn’t find anything to soothe my skin at all. In the end I decided to go to the doctors, we discovered this was the result of a hormonal change, and was given antibiotics to help with my face. Although the acne cleared up, my skin was left very damaged with a lot of dark scarring.

I am very lucky to have the mum and sister I have, who support me and help me with everything. So they read up on different products, and I watched a lot of reviews on YouTube and skincare regimes and together we came up with a list of top products and a new diet plan. I bought and tried a few products from nip+fab, The Ordinary, Bobbi brown and Nars, and began my 2 litres a day water challenge. And after discovering what worked and what didn’t work for my skin, I was able to put together a routine for myself.

I have noticed such a difference in not only the appearance of my skin, but the texture also. It has become such an important part of my day, and so skincare has become something I’ve grown to really love and appreciate. It’s amazing what a set routine, an improved diet and 2 litres of water a day can do for your skin.  Having a sister who is an incredible beautician and a mum with the most incredible skin, from taking such good care of it, has also really helped me. Especially when I’m feeling lazy or when I’m tired after a long day, they give me the motivation to stick to it.

I love reading about other people’s skincare routines and seeing their journeys, and so I thought I would share mine with you all. And if it helps anyone in any way that will be a bonus.

I hope you all have a great week, thanks again for reading.

Love always
